Wednesday, February 3rd marked the fourth annual Math and Science Night at Lenora B. Smith Elementary. During this evening, students and their families are invited back to the school to enjoy math and science interactive centers making the subjects both FUN AND RELEVANT! There was a technology station where the laptops were used to discover science and math websites. There were STEM like activities like bridge building, flying planes and spider webs where families attempted to build objects that would sustain weight or fly the farthest. Then there were math stations that focused on skills like the geometry activity on area, the equation station or my favorite - FRAC-JACK! Ms. Batist, math coach, is to be congratulated for organizing another spectacular night! Several teachers volunteered their time to ensure our families had a blast. This mardi gras themed event was complete with all the colors, music, bead and a photo station. Three students won a ipod through a raffle. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this night so spectacular!
