In celebration of Earth Day, Lenora B. Smith Elementary was in full swing!! Who led the charge? Kindergarten took charge, of course! Students learned about the environment and the importance of protecting our natural resources from a number of readings through the week. Our students were challenged to create new items from recycled materials. Students made pencil holders from water bottle, binoculars from toilet tissue rolls and so much more. Writing assignments around the 3 Rs were completed. Students even made bird seed feeders to hang around the school. Each K class had a tent and "fire" (thanks Mr. Prospere) so that students would get the experience of camping. Then to top it all off...S'MORES. Mr. Prospere, along with the kindergarten teachers, roasted marshmallows and our students enjoyed s'mores. Congratulations and Thanks for Ms. McLean, Ms. Boursiquot, Ms. Berenz, Ms. Dolce and Mr. Prospere for their hard work to ensure a successful Earth Day for our kindergarten students.
