Lenora B. Smith Elementary is its pre-magnet arts stage showed why we are the future of the arts in elementary schools in Liberty City. Our students, under the direction of Ms. Spells and Mr. Everett, put on a drama production entitle The Mayor Cancels Christmas. This production was worthy to be shown on any stage complete with various backdrops, customs, props and great actors. Our music department, under the direction of Mr. Chinnery, presented several musical selections both instrumental and sang. This year, the students even sang in an African dialect with chereography. This was beautiful to see and hear! The children played all the instruments available at the school. Hip Hop A, under the direction of Mr. Ditzier and Ms. Glass, performed a new Holiday number brining down the house. But the real treat was the premier performance of Hip Hop B under the direction of Mr Williams, Ms. Reyes and Ms. Louie. These little dancers in grades one through three danced their little hearts out. David Bogan and Nashalie de la Cruz sang a duet of O Holy Night, and there wasn't a dry eye in the room. Thursday, December 17th, was a night to remember. The cafeteria was filled to capacity as parents hoped to see their children make them proud...and make them proud the students did. Lenora B. Smith Elementary producing scholars and artists!
