So what did you do this past Wednesday? Because of the hard work of students, the submission of teachers and the generosity of four star Marlins players, our Wednesday was pretty cool! Teachers and students in Ms. Guerra's Fifth Grade class and Ms. Spells' Fourth Grade Class submitted lessons to the Marlins Think Tank Competition. Because their lessons were selected, players came out to see the students teach the lesson. After teaching the lesson, students were able to ask players questions and receive autographed player cards. So who came to our school? None other than Jose Urena, Justin Nicolino, AJ Ramos and Giancarlo Stanton! Thank you to our partners at Marlins Ayudan for making another day at Lenora even more memorable.
Thanks to a new 1st Grade shirt designed by Mr. Williams, May the 4th was on at Lenora B. Smith! Many of the students, teachers and staff wore their Star Wars attire and posed for some great photos. The library featured Star Wars books and was decorated in the theme. Our desire was to encourage students to dream big and explore careers in technology, robotics, engineering, etc. To that we say..."May the 4th" Be with You!
After reading Elvis and the Underdogs, which featured a therapy dog, Ms. Haber once again helped the book come to life for the students in LBS' reading club. How? I'm glad you asked. She invited a therapy dog and his handler, Mr. Michael Freeman, to the library. The students loved meeting this chocolate labrador who helps make Mr. Freeman's life better and more independent. Check out the pictures below!
